(From Heather Bio)

I can take what Holly and Katie start with and help them develop the song. This I enjoy most of all and I thank them that they let me do it.
Our challenge lies in that there are three of us, and we are all grown women, and anytime you try to get three women to agree on anything problems arise. When will we practice? When will we sing? What song will we record next? Should we or shouldn’t we charge fees? Should we eat in or go out? Jeans or slacks? It doesn’t matter, we will disagree about something. That is our biggest challenge, our own pride and selfishness. It can be very discouraging, but the knowledge that we are in God’s plan keeps us going.
We hadn’t been singing in churches for a while due to the general course of life itself. Katie got married, Holly had a baby, our “record deal” got squashed. All of these good things, but it left me wondering if we should continue Not About Us. We had been having a hard time finding a producer who we could count on that had the same vision for our music as we had and were unsure of what to do next. It is difficult to call around and promote yourself to churches, what do you say? “Hey we’re awesome! Can we sing at your church?” That never feels right. If we are doing this for God’s Glory what do we do with it? How do we get out there? Well, the answer is you pray, and pray and pray some more. God has been answering our prayers. He is ever faithful in all things.
We hadn’t sung anywhere for almost a year and no one was calling. I had been praying “Is this something you want us to continue?” and within a week I got a phone call from someone who had heard us sing years ago at “Walk for Life” at Metro Zoo wanting us to come and sing at her Christian Women’s Luncheon. Within another week we got another call from First Alliance Church in Ft. Lauderdale asking us to sing at their youth concert in May! They had heard about us through their sister church River of Life. I must say to get two invitations out of the blue from churches we had never sung at before was incredible. We hadn’t gotten an invitation in over 10 months!
So here we are. Back in the thick of it. God has brought us a wonderful producer Marco Linares with Angel Light Productions who is so talented and so dedicated. He is doing wonderful things with our music, helping us to bring it up to the next level. Thank you God and thank you Marco!
We had been praying for someone to help us with our website. No one seemed to have the time or inclination, but as you can see (for I am writing this to be put on our website, so if you are reading it our website is set up) God has sent us someone for this purpose as well. I had sent out an email with a link to our MySpace (www.MySpace.com/notaboutusmusic) and I got an email back from my friend Mario saying “Can I build you a website?” To which I responded “Hallelujah! Yes, Yes, Yes!!!”
God is good all the time and all the time God is good!
God is working in our lives right now. It is still frustrating at times and never easy. We have to stay on our knees all the time. When we get up off our knees things begin to fall apart, but God our ever faithful Father, always pulls us back together. Patience and faithfulness on our part is the key. God will do things in His time and He does them for our good. Even if we have a different vision, God’s Vision is what we should strive for. It is what we need and we should trust He has everything under control, (even when we think things should really be moving along a little quicker). Patience, Patience, Faith, Trust and Patience.
The only thing I want in my life, in the life of Not About Us, is God’s Will and Purpose. No matter what that is. That is what I truly desire in my heart, what I pray for. Who am I to presume I know what is best? Who knows better than the Creator of all things? Not I, I assure you.
